Lake Winnipeg water levels are regulated by Manitoba Hydro. The Lake is part of the way of life for Aboriginal peoples on its East Side. The prospect of major transmission lines bisecting aboriginal territories on the East Side also makes hydro impacts a risk for these communities and the east side boreal forest region.

This gallery provides historic glimpses of life on the East Side, one of the largest intact boreal forest regions in the world.
