Access to Information in Manitoba

Manitoba Wildlands prepared a brief about access to information standards needed and lacking in Manitoba. Contents of the public registry, notification, planning and regulatory changes, and access to proponent responses have eroded over the last few years. Split posting where some materials are in paper registry and some are on line, without clear policies or notification, is also a recent problem.

Public access to information is not just about making information physically or electronically accessible. It is about enabling citizens to participate. Manitoba needs to renew its mechanisms so that citizens and communities engagement is enhanced and enables.
