Manitoba Hydro Projects: BiPole III CEC Hearings
Bipole III Hearings: Week Seven: November 13-15, 2012Manitoba CEC is conducting public hearing about the potential environmental and socio-economic impacts of constructing and operating this proposed project, as requested by the Minister of Conservation and Water Stewardship. Using information gathered from hearings, the CEC will prepare a report for the minister, with recommendations regarding the project, potential licence standards and other matters. Manitoba Wildlands is registered as an unfunded participant for the Bipole III CEC proceedings and hearings for the Bipole III Transmission Project. We are providing information on this website about the Bipole III CEC proceedings, as there is little other online access for the information below. This update covers week seven of the hearings (November 13-15th, 2012), and also includes some Manitoba Hydro presentations from previous weeks that are not available on the CEC website. The seventh week of Clean Environment Commission (CEC) hearings on the proposed Bipole III Transmission Project began with Manitoba Hydro announcing November 13, 2012 that it will file a supplemental environmental assessment on its revised route changes on January 28, 2013. Hearings were originally scheduled to finish November 26, 2012, but will now adjourn on November 22, 2012, before resuming around March 4, 2013 to review Manitoba Hydro's January 2013 supplemental environmental assessment for the route changes. Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF), a funded participant in the Bipole III CEC hearings, called 11 witnesses on November 13th & 14th.

Consumers' Association of Canada (CAC) Manitoba Chapter, a funded participant in the Bipole III CEC hearings, had a total of 8 experts who helped to prepare 4 reports.
